Away back in the summer of 2020, during August to be precise, AM GEO was working as a Site Agent for AECOM on the Lower Thames Crossing when I was informed that Sir Tony Robinson would be visiting site to film a Channel 5 TV show, namely 'The Thames with Tony Robinson'.
In the role as Site Agent AM GEO liaised closely with the Highways England team to ensure that the visit would be successful. Dates, times, transport routes, how to transport a whole tv crew and others under COVID rules had to be thought of and agreed. The whole site team was briefed on what was happening and the plan for the day before his arrival.
I had the pleasure of inducting Sir Tony and the crew then leading them out onto site. Due to some last minute breakdowns and boreholes finishing earlier than planned, a quick change of plan was needed and another working rig was found.
Several hours were spent filming at the rig and interviewing the crew, whilst I ensured everyone was kept safe and secure and that they were getting what they needed for the TV show.
All in all it was a successful day and thoroughly enjoyable. Sadly, you will not be seeing my handsome face on TV.
